About Us
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue was established in 2012 after many years of informal rescue.
By way of background the Maneki Neko is a Japanese symbol of success, prosperity, good health and happiness. We hope that the Maneki Neko will bring all of these to our organisation and to the cats and kittens that we rehome.

Maneki Neko Cat Rescue is specifically focused on working collaboratively with the community, community groups, business’s and local councils to:
• reduce cat euthanasia rates,
• increase reclaiming rates, and
• increase re-homing rates,
through the rescue, rehabilitation (if required) and re-homing of cats and kittens, as well as the prevention of unwanted cats and kittens.
Our Team
Samantha, Director
B. Bus, Grad Dip of Law (Commercial Law)
Samantha and Carl established Maneki Neko Cat Rescue in October 2012, after many years of private cat rescue and as foster carers for other rescue organisations.
After losing their beloved 'Mousey' from Myeloma in 2005, Samantha and Carl began taking in homeless cats.
They also began taking in cats in need of care, providing the required veterinary care and finding them loving homes.
Joanne, Director
B. Animal & Veterinary Science, Cert. II & III Animal Studies, Cert IV Veterinary Nursing
Coming from a farming background Joanne grew up surrounded by animals and continues to be very passionate about their care and welfare. Her three cats; AJ, OJ and Ben were all hand-reared rescue kittens from the Manningham area.
She currently works full time as a Vet Nurse at Vets on Parker, one of Melbourne's leading veterinary clinics in Templestowe.
