About MANEKI NEKO CAT RESCUE
Maneki Neko Cat Rescue is an all breed cat rescue organisation run entirely by volunteers and is a registered charitable animal welfare organisation with deductible gift recipient status.
By way of background, the Maneki Neko is a Japanese symbol of success, prosperity, good health and happiness. We hope that the Maneki Neko will bring all of these to our organisation and to the cats and kittens that we rehome.
Maneki Neko is specifically focused on working collaboratively with the community, community groups, business’s and local councils to improve the welfare of cats and kittens, reducing euthanasia rates; increasing reclaiming rates, and increasing re-homing rates by finding loving homes for healthy de-sexed cats and kittens, promoting micro-chipping and de-sexing of all pets and engaging like-minded community volunteers to further our work.
Feline Friends Assistance Program
The Feline Friends Assistance Program seeks to assist individuals and families with a feline pet, experiencing financial hardship or disadvantage.
The program recognises the importance of pets to personal health (both physical and mental) and the additional anxiety that may be caused should circumstances be such that they are unable to care for or keep a pet by providing emergency parcels of cat food with flea/worm treatments.
At Maneki Neko Cat Rescue it has been our experience that keeping companion animals in the home has many benefits in improving the lives and well being of members of the community.
Eligible participants will be provided with a food parcel containing one months supply of dry/wet cat food as well as flea and worming treatment. For more information regarding this program email Samantha.
Donations toward this program are gratefully appreciated and can be dropped off at the Neko HQ donation bank.
With thanks to our program partners Doncare (distributors to Manningham residents), Vets on Parker, Ragamuffin Pet Photography and Afterbags.
De-sex in the City
The De-Sex in the City Program is designed to:
- Increase the de-sexing rate in the community by providing low cost de-sexing for both male and female cats
- Reduce the potential for unwanted litters of kittens
- Reduce the prevalence of significant cat diseases in the community (De-sexed cats are much less likely to stray or engage in fighting)
- Via the promotion of this program, contribute to community education regarding the responsible ownership of cats
- Improve the status of cats in the community as companion animals that have significant health and wellbeing outcomes for groups such as the elderly, children and low income households.
Check out De-sex in the City on Facebook to see if this program is operating in your area.
